Why Clients Ask for ISO

Why Clients Ask for ISO

Most businesses come to us for ISO because a tender, a PSU vendor registration or a large customer has made it a condition. That is a fair reason, but a quality or safety system that is actually used also cuts rework and makes customer audits far less painful. We work on ISO 9001 for quality, ISO 14001 for environment, ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety, ISO 22000 and FSSC 22000 for food safety, and ISO/IEC 27001 for information security.

One thing should be clear upfront. Consultants do not issue ISO certificates. Accredited certification bodies do. We prepare your organisation and then coordinate the audit with a certification body accredited by NABCB or another member of the International Accreditation Forum. Certificates from unaccredited bodies are cheap and quick, and that is exactly why buyers and tender committees have started rejecting them.

How the Project Runs

How the Project Runs

We start with a gap analysis against the standard. Then we write the manual, procedures, risk registers and records around the way you actually work, not around a downloaded template. Your process owners are trained, we run the internal audit and management review, and the certification body carries out its Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits. A small or mid-sized company with a cooperative team usually gets through in a few weeks to a few months.

An ISO certificate is valid for three years, but only if you clear the surveillance audit every year. Systems built only to pass the first audit tend to fail the second. We stay on to run internal audits, close non-conformities and prepare you for surveillance and recertification, so the certificate keeps meaning something.

Questions clients usually ask

Do you issue ISO certificates?

No. Only accredited certification bodies issue them. We prepare you and coordinate the audit with an accredited body of your choice.

How long does ISO 9001 take?

For a small or medium organisation, a few weeks to a few months, depending on size, number of sites and existing documentation.

How do I check whether a certificate is genuine?

Confirm the certification body is accredited by NABCB or another IAF member, and verify the certificate on the certification body website or the IAF CertSearch database.
